Global Experience

For my global experience, I helped construct an informational database for Experience Durham to use for training future volunteers in the TEAM Durham holiday camps program. I participated as part of DukeEnagage-Durham 2017. In the UK, there is a national volunteer certification called NCFE for which many high school students apply. The approval process involves constructing a three-part portfolio based on volunteering experience, research on local service organizations, and on community service theory. Over the course of the summer, a few of the other volunteers and I helped train the volunteers for the certification, and compiled a set of resources that could be used in order to train future volunteers for the program.

Connection to GCS Focus

This project connects to "Securing Cyberspace" because it concerns building a database of information that contains some sensitive and some public data on Experience Durham, and good practices for managing this information must be established and implemented.
